How to write a blog for your Shopify fashion store

By Nebado Labs · Updated 2 November 2026

A product page can only say so much. A blog is where you answer the questions shoppers ask before they buy: how it fits, how to style it, how to care for it. This guide covers what to write, how often, and how to publish it in Shopify.

Why a blog is worth it for a fashion store

Shoppers cannot touch the fabric or try the piece on. They fill that gap with questions, and a blog gives you somewhere to answer them in depth. Posts that answer a real question can be found in search, can be quoted by AI assistants, and give people a reason to visit that is not a discount.

A blog that has not had a new post for months also sends a signal. To a shopper it can look like a brand that has gone quiet, and a store with no recent posts is easy to dismiss. A steady rhythm matters more than a big launch.

What to write about

Start from what customers already ask you, in emails, direct messages and returns. Each repeated question is a post. Common topics for fashion brands:

Write about your own products and your own experience. A post that rephrases what ten other sites already say gives readers and search engines no reason to choose yours.

A simple monthly rhythm

Two to four posts a month is enough for most small brands. Tie each post to something you sell, so it can link to the product or collection it talks about. Plan the month in one sitting, then write one post at a time. It is better to publish two good posts every month for a year than twelve in a burst and then nothing.

Do not write to a word count. A post should be as long as the question needs. Many useful posts for a single question run somewhere between 500 and 900 words, but a clear short answer beats a padded long one.

How to publish a post in Shopify

  1. In the Shopify admin, go to Content, then Blog posts, and click Add blog post.
  2. Enter a title. It is required and can be up to 255 characters.
  3. Write the post in the editor. It supports images, links and tables.
  4. Choose an author and the blog it belongs to. You can create a new blog here.
  5. Optionally add a featured image, an excerpt (the summary shown on the blog page) and tags.
  6. Open the search engine listing to set the page title, the meta description and the URL handle. Use dashes between words in the handle. Shopify warns that page titles over 70 characters may be cut off, so keep them short.
  7. Choose Visible to publish now, or set a future date. Posts are hidden by default until you publish them.

Questions

How often should a fashion brand post on its blog?

Two to four posts a month is a realistic rhythm for a small brand. Consistency matters more than volume.

How long should a blog post be?

As long as the question needs. Do not write to a word count. Many single-question posts run between 500 and 900 words.

Do I need a blog if I only have a few products?

A blog helps most when you have questions to answer, and a small catalog still produces them: fit, fabric, care and styling. A few strong posts are better than none.

Can I use AI to write my blog posts?

You can use it to draft or to organize ideas, but review every post, add your own experience and details, and check the facts. Large amounts of unreviewed AI text give readers and search engines little of value.
